Observations
My kids caterpillars grew into butterflies this week! They were so exited to watch the butterflies fly away outside. I did not get to see the butterflies fly away with the kids but they told me all about it. They couldn't stop talking about it, it was precious.  When they were telling me about the butterflies they told me all about the process of how it became a butterfly and it was great to see all that they learned from it.

Learning experiences
When you have almost twenty four to five war I'm kids in your class, it is difficult to watch every single child all the time. So when the children have something that goes wrong or they get in a fight with someone and come tell you about it, it is difficult to tell which child is telling the truth and things like that. I've learned a lot about how to control these situations without someone getting their feelings hurt or making the situation worse.

Reflections
My last official day with my kids was so much fun. Although they are awaiting the day I get to stay for the full day, it was depressing to me to know that I spent my last official day with they already. They kids were so eager to tell me about how I get to stay the full day with they. I know hey are really looking forward to that day just like I am!

Stories
One of my boys loves dinosaurs and other reptiles. His name is Charlie and he spent the whole class one day last week telling me everything he knew about dinosaurs. It was so amazing to hear how much he knows about them. He told me things like when they lived, where you could find their bones and how you could put them together to make a big skeleton. It was so cute to see him talk about something he loves.

Observations
I had a great week with my kids last week. We had a lot of fun getting to look at the new caterpillars they have in the class room. It's so cute to see the kids anxiously await the change into a butterfly that they have been told is going to happen. My kids are very  observant with the types of things such as having something new In class like the caterpillars. They notice if one little thing is missing or if it has been added. They also love finding these changes, something I would've never noticed, they notice. It's awesome to watch their brains work to recognize and adapt to changes.

 Learning experiences
Although I know I seem to talk about the strong need for patience with young kids, I cannot seem to escape the thought of it because I run into the issue every single time I am in the class room. Four and five year olds get distracted very easily. It is very hard to keep them focused for long enough for you do teach or do anything with them. It's even hard to get through a whole read aloud without someone having to go to the thinking chair. I learn more and more patience every single time I walk in to oak pointe elementary school.

Reflections
Looking back on my the past couple weeks with my kids I realize how I need to become more involved with every single kid and not just the ones who tend to be attracted towards me. Some of my kids are very shy whereas some are the opposite of shy. With the shy kids it is hard to get them to interact with me sometimes and I think instead of trying harder I tend to look to the kids that I know will want to interact with me.

Stories
My classroom has a housekeeping section in it. In this section their is a play kitchen, a kitchen table, puppet, dress up clothes and other fun things. One of my girls, Yara, found out I was a cheerleader one day. She was so shocked and excited to know that Miss. Megan was a cheerleader. Ever since the day she found out I was a cheerleader she races everyone to the house keeping section everyday during center time to get the dress up cheerleading uniform. I think it is so precious that she looks up to me like that.

Observations
Last week I noticed a lot about the different children and how the interact with each other. As assumed, most of the girls will tend to play with girls and most of the boys will tend to play with other boys. It seems as if the boys tend to play with the boys of similar interests, the trouble makers play with the other trouble makers. Then the more girly girls will hang out with the other girly girls. I love watching the kinda interact with each other because I feel like it teaches me a lot about who the are as individuals.

Learning experiences
On Friday mornings at oak pointe every student in the school gathers in the "commons" area and they have a morning meeting. I think it is so awesome to watch all of the kids together in the commons area getting excited about school and learning. The enthusiasm shown by the teacher and administration is what makes this possible though. When they get excited about learning so do the student. It's great to watch and it teaches me a lot about the way to act and how to treat the students.

Reflections
Wednesdays are my favorite day to go to field experience. I get to go to recess with my kids on Wednesdays and it is so much fun. The kids love it when I get to go out with them too so we both win. Last Wednesday when I went out with the kids I left with about five flowers in my hand because they picked them for me. It's so fun to see the kids do their own thing and watch who plays what with who. I love just observing my kids playing whatever they want. I think it is one of the best ways I learn about the kids.

Stories
My kids were stand in line in the classroom before they were going somewhere and two of the girls were talking. They were talking about their outfits and one of them said, "well Miss. Megan likes my shirt." Then te other one said, "Miss. Megan said my shirt was pretty." It was so cute they were just having a simple conversation about who's shirt I liked better. I did not say any of the things about the girls shirts that they were saying but it was so cute to see thy I was the idea of their conversation about clothes.

Observations
This past week in my class we were learning about safety rules. One of the activities we did with the kids was having them come up with their own safety rule and drawing a picture for it. It was awesome to see the imaginations of the kids minds work while they were telling us their safety rules. One of the rules a kid made up was, "Call 911 when someone is robbing the bank." I thought the kids did very well using the knowledge and imagination to make these safety rules for themselves.

Learning Experiences
While helping my kids in small groups, I am consistently reminding myself how I must be patient with my kids. They are very young and need help learning the easy things. Sometimes that can become frustrating because you want them to know it already but they just don't. My patience is becoming better and better every time I work with my kids. I love that while I am teaching my kids, I am also learning. I learn so much from those kids and it is great to spend time with them.

Reflections
We did not go field experience on Wednesday and even my pre-k kids noticed that I wasn't there. I thought it was so cute to hear my teacher tell me that my kids were freaking out because I was supposed to be there and I wasn't. It was cute to see that my kids are starting to learn the pattern of me being there one day and then not the next and they noticed that I was missing one day.

Stories
My kids have started a new thing where they fight over who gets to hold my hand while we walk down the hallway. They will get so annoyed with each other if they are not getting to hold my hand. I try my best to just not let any of them hold my hands so they do not get mad with each other but it never works. They just constantly fight over who can hold my hand until we arrive to the destination we are headed.

Observations:
This week with my class, I started noticing the different ways in which each of my kids learn. Many of them are visual learners but it shocked me to see the amount of kids that were auditory learners. When Mrs. Cathcart explains directions for some of the activities, it is obvious that some kids do not need to visually see what they need to do but understand by listening whole other kids need to see things.

Learning experiences:
My kids were learning about their senses this past week. We did a really fun activity in which the kids had different containers with different smells in them. They were things such as Peanut butter, oranges, lemons, garlic and coffee beans. They kids had to guess what was in the container with using only one of their five senses, smell. It was very fun to watch their kids try and figure everything out, they had so much fun trying to guess what was in the container and they loved giving each other hints.

Reflections:
Some of my kids are becoming attached to me. In teacher cadets we talked about the kids who do not get much attention at home will be the ones that start getting attached and I can tell this is true. Most of my kids that are getting attached to me are the ones who never have their reading log read or things like that. They bring home a reading log everyday and I check to see who's read and who hasn't and it is interesting to see how those two things compare.

Stories:
One of my students painted me a picture the other day. It was so cute! She asked me how to spell my name and everything so she could put it on we paper. All of my kids always fight about who gets to sit beside me and it's so cute. They will fight about who gets to play with me also.
My teacher told me the kids ask every single morning where I am, even the morning when I don't go because they do not understand that I come every other day, so they are always concerned when I am not there every morning.

Observations
I am in a pre-k class so I have two teacher in my room. Both of my teacher are very nice and were very welcoming. They seem to really enjoy being with the kids and learning from them while teaching them. Mrs. Cathcart is my main teacher and she is very good with the kids. They all seem to really love and respect her. When she tells them to do something they will listen and she is also very patient with the kids.

Learning experiences
Mrs. Cathcart gave me the opportunity to work with a couple of the students at a time. We played a game that helped with knowing the first letters of words and finding those letter. It helped me realize you have to be very patient with the students because it sometimes takes them a little longer to get the answer. I also found it very interesting to watch how the two student interacted with each other while playing the game. The kids would look to each other for help but at the same time try and out do each other.

Reflections
I have grown so close to my kids in the past week! They got used to me being I  the classroom and started greeting me when I get there and all saying goodbye to me and hugging me when I leave. I am so exited about spending more time with my student and learning about them and the best ways each of them learn individually. A couple of my students are still not completely comfortable me yet but I am hoping in the next week or so they will to be excited when I come to help them learn.

Stories to share
I was walking in the hallway with my students, they were all lined up by the wall. One little boy in my class named John was talking to me. As we were talking we got interrupted by another little boy named Brayden who said "Megan Megan walk with me" after Brayden said this, John looked at Brayden and said, "Her name is not Megan, it's Miss. Megan." It was so cute excuse John was so serious but when he says his Ms they are not very clear so it made it really cute when he said Miss. Megan.

Learning Experiences

This past week we did a lot of reading for class. I really enjoyed the reading we did though. Learning about the guidelines for making a test was very interesting to me. I have obviously seen many test throughout my schooling so I had plenty of past experiences to compare the guidelines to. It made learning about the guidelines much easier to remember and also much more interesting. I felt like I was judging my past test which was kind of fun.

Current Event

http://www.edweek.org/ew/articles/2013/01/16/17gender.h32.html?tkn=QXUFJfZqaU%2BunJI6sKGDd8mx0mQEdpR95Mqe&cmp=ENL-EU-NEWS2

This current event is about the way gender affect the amount a student can learn from a teacher. Studies showed that girls taught my female teachers in math will do better that girls taught by male teachers. I think this makes sense because females are more comforting which makes it easier for students to learn math. It would be harder for anyone to learn math with a less loving male teacher.

Quote of the Week

“It is not that I'm so smart. But I stay with the questions much longer.”
― Albert Einstein

This quote mkae me think about the things we learned about making test because it proves that the harded more difficult learning levels will help you learn. It also reminds me of the speaker we had last week because of what she went through with her son. She had to find out the reasons to why her son was not excelling very well and it was very inspiring to keep searching for answers.

Observations

The past couple weeks I have really been checking out my options for college. I went to Michigan to visit a school and is was wonderful. I really enjoyed seeing the new college but my friend was not so excited that I was going to visit the school. While I was in Michigan she would not even talk to me so it was very hurtful to me. She doesn't want me to go that far away from home and leave her and all my other friends but I think I have to do whats best for me in making those decisions. It hurt me to know that she is not supportive of me in trying to do whats best for me. This experience taught me a lot about how to treat others though. I would never want one of my friends to  feel like that about me and therefore I have learned more about how to treat people from this experience.

Reflections

College is so stressful to think about!! Its so crazy to think I will be in college so soon. It has been such a great senior year and its so crazy to think it is half way over! Second semester starts tomorrow and that means I have one semester of high school left. It is so insane to think about! I am so nervous yet so excited to think about what the future holds.
